And don’t get me started on Martin Luther King…

On Thursday, I was briefly on national radio.

The day before, Charles Adler had Christopher Hitchens as a guest. Amongst other things, he discussed his book on Mother Teresa. He touched on some of the reasons why she was a nasty, nasty woman who did very little good at all for the world.

So on Thursday, Adler replayed that bit and asked people to call in on it. I got right through and was first!

I said I agreed and went on a bit myself about what a cow she was. I told the girls at work (’cause I was AT work), and some of them listened on my headphones.

I asked if I sounded like myself.

Comet Girl said, “You sounded snotty.”

I replied, “So, yes?”

Are you packed yet? Are your feet exfoliated?

Um, hello? I trashed Mother Teresa and all you care about are my feet?!?

No, and no. I have super-dooper softening lotion and am trying to buff them every day. You’ll just have to wait and see.

Have you at least stocked up on maple syrup?

Look, I just can’t worry myself over your burden of sin. It’s too much to ask. I can only worry about the feet.

Afton: No. You know who hated maple syrup, though? Mother Teresa.

Nancy: But if you won’t worry about my burden, who will?

She hated maple syrup?! Well, NOW I’m convinced she must have been as nasty as you’ve said.

Glad you’ve finally accepted the truth.
